My Inkjet Pro 8600 will not print and displays "Print cartridge damaged or missing". I've tried two replacement cartridges and still get the same error. No visible damage to the print head. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Hi @JebSimkins,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is displaying the "Print cartridge damaged or missing" error even with new cartridges,
here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are seated correctly. Remove and reinsert them, making sure they click into place.
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: Gently clean the copper contacts on both the cartridge and the printer with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with water. Make sure to let them dry completely before reinserting.
- Inspect the Printhead: While you mentioned there’s no visible damage, try cleaning the printhead using the printer's built-in cleaning function. If the issue persists, consider replacing the printhead, as it may have internal damage that’s not visible.
- Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this via the HP Support website or the printer's control panel. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Try Another Set of Cartridges: If possible, try using a different brand or genuine HP cartridges to rule out compatibility issues.
- Check for Error Messages: If there are any other error messages on the printer display, take note of them, as they could provide additional clues.
