HI @Meliza3,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When you receive an error message indicating a printer failure or issues with the ink system, even after installing new cartridges, it typically suggests that there may be a problem beyond just the ink levels. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Verify Cartridge Installation
- Ensure that the new ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove each cartridge and reinsert it, making sure it clicks into place securely.
- Confirm that all protective tapes or packaging have been removed from the new cartridges.
2. Clean Cartridge Contacts
- Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Allow everything to dry completely before reinstalling.
3. Reset the Printer
- Unplug the printer from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Some printers have a reset function in the settings menu. Check your printer’s manual for instructions on performing a factory reset.
4. Check for Firmware Updates
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model. Download and install any available firmware updates.
5. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Open the HP Smart app or HP Printer Assistant on your computer and run any available diagnostic tools or troubleshooting wizards.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any issues detected by the software.
6. Inspect for Physical Issues
- Ensure there are no paper jams or foreign objects inside the printer that could be causing issues.
- Some printers have a removable printhead. If applicable, carefully remove it and check for any clogs or debris. Consult your printer’s manual for instructions on cleaning or replacing the printhead.
7. Verify Ink Levels
- Even though you’ve replaced the cartridges, use the printer’s software or control panel to check the ink levels. Sometimes the printer needs to be recalibrated to recognize new cartridges.
- If the printer still indicates that the yellow ink is empty, you may need to replace the cartridge with a new one.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
