HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer

Installed brand new HP cartridges. Printer states blocked by firmware because they maintain non-hp chip.  New cartridges have not expired and are HP product. 
HP virtual assistant worthless

HP customer support worthless. 
I would like HP to send me new cartridges to determine if the ones I just installed are faulty. 
did I mention HP customer service is worthless?

I'd be happy to help you! 

 

I understand that you are facing issues with non-hp chip error.

 

  • Update the printer firmware- Download available firmware updates from the HP website
  • With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
  • The third party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

 

Note: For printers manufactured prior to December 1, 2016 dynamic security will not be enabled by the firmware. 

Please note that HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP cartridges.
