Hi @Jimmy207
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
Perform the following tasks in the order given. Use the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.
Check the cartridge numbers
Make sure the cartridge numbers are compatible with your printer and country/region.
Open the door or lid to the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage stops moving before continuing.
Check the cartridge labels and compare with the list of compatible cartridges for your printer in Which cartridges work with my HP printer?.
If you saw the error after moving your printer from one country/region to another, you might not find cartridges with the number previously purchased. You might need to contact HP Support for a regionalization reset.
If your printer is enrolled in Instant Ink, the cartridges should be marked Instant Ink. The numbers may be different from the cartridge numbers available from retailers, but your printer is designed to work with Instant Ink cartridges. See Solve problems with Instant Ink cartridges and enrolled printers for more help with Instant Ink cartridge errors.
If you have an HP+ printer, see Can't print on an HP+ or Instant Ink enrolled printer for more help.
Note:
HP+ printers require Original HP cartridges.
Replace any incompatible cartridges. Go to the HP Store to purchase compatible cartridges.
Reset the printer
Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.
Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the power source.
Wait 60 seconds.
Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
Turn on the printer to complete the reset.
Check for tape and clean the cartridge if necessary
Check for protective tape and reinstall the cartridge, then clean the contacts on the cartridges and in the carriage if the error still appears.
Open the door or lid to the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage stops moving before continuing.
Remove the cartridge indicated in the error message from the carriage.
Carriages with cartridge latches: Open the latch, and then pull the cartridge up and out of the slot.
Carriages without cartridge latches: Gently press down on the cartridge to release it, and then pull it out of the slot.
Holding the cartridge so that you touch plastic parts only, remove any protective tape that might be on the contacts.
CAUTION:
Do not touch the ink nozzles or the copper-colored electrical strip with your fingers. These parts are fragile.
Reinstall the cartridges and see if the error goes away.
If the error still appears, remove the cartridges again for cleaning.
Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge.
Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth or swab with distilled water, and then clean the electrical contacts in the carriage.
Wait 10 minutes for the contacts to dry, and then reinsert the cartridge into its color-coded slot.
Repeat these steps for the other cartridge if it was indicated in the error message.
Close the door or lid to the cartridge access area.
If the error persists, clean the cartridge and carriage contacts a second time.
Replace the cartridge–you might be eligible for a replacement
Installing a new cartridge usually resolves cartridge errors. You might be eligible for a replacement from HP.
If your printer is enrolled in Instant Ink, replace the problem cartridge with your reserve cartridge. If you do not have a reserve cartridge on hand, contact HP Instant Ink support for a replacement.
Remove the problem cartridge indicated in the error and read the Warranty Ends date that is printed on the cartridge.
Warranty Ends date has not passed: You may be eligible for a replacement cartridge from HP. Launch our Virtual Assistant to start the process (U.S., U.K., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland only), or Contact HP Customer Support (all other countries/regions).
Warranty Ends date has passed: Go to the HP Store or a local retailer to find and purchase compatible supplies. HP recommends genuine HP cartridges.
Replace the problem cartridge with a new replacement cartridge.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
