Hi @Lindapalewicz,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Let's try to resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet 8015e not recognizing the yellow cartridge. Here are some steps you can follow:

1. Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the yellow cartridge and inspect it for any protective tape on the nozzles or electrical contacts; if present, gently remove it.
  • Check for debris, ink smudges, or damage on the cartridge contacts or inside the cartridge slot.
  • Reinsert the cartridge firmly and ensure it clicks into place

2. Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the cartridge slot.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridge

3. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer powered on, unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 30 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on

4. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to your computer.
  • Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Identify your printer model and look for any available firmware updates.
  • Download and install the updates

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
