Hi @Jsturza,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're receiving an "Incompatible Cartridge" error after installing a black ink cartridge in your printer, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check Cartridge Compatibility
- Ensure that the cartridge you received is compatible with your specific printer model. You can usually find this information on the cartridge packaging or the manufacturer's website.
2. Inspect the Cartridge
- Check for Damage: Inspect the cartridge for any visible damage, such as cracks or broken parts.
- Ensure Proper Installation: Remove the cartridge and reinstall it, making sure it clicks securely into place.
3. Clean the Contacts
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the gold contacts on the cartridge.
- Clean the Printer Contacts: Check the corresponding contacts inside the printer and clean them gently if there’s any ink or debris.
4. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
5. Check for Firmware Updates
- Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues:
- Go to the printer manufacturer’s website and check if there’s a firmware update available for your model.
6. Try a Different Cartridge
- If possible, try installing another cartridge to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the cartridge itself is faulty.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
