PSA!! If you didn’t read the fine print while signing up for Hp Instant Ink, you should know this before signing up.

If/when you choose to cancel your subscription, the ink in your printer, the one you’ve already made purchases on, will be deactivated and you’ll have until the end of the billing cycle to use it.

You are not purchasing a cartridge with instant ink, you are paying a per copy subscription and HP supplies ink so that you can make those copies while you are covered by a subscription. Imagine how many people would subscribe and then cancel after they get the cartridge if you could just use them without the subscription. Just like cellphone, stop paying the bill and you can no longer make calls.
