Instant ink issues

HP Recommended

Hi there

I'm having a mare.

I bought a deskjet 4130 which was actually second hand but not used that much and is still under warranty. It came already equipped with the instant ink free trial which is inside of the printer already.

However, I want to register for instant ink service to continue with this, but it says I need to print a page to get a verification code, but it won't allow me to print because of not signing up to the service although the previous owner did not do this, and it worked fine.

So it sounds like I need to buy 305 ink just to print the verification code? Seems like a backwards idea, why can't I just be sent something via email to confirm this?

Anyway, there isn't anywhere where I can find the ink 305 in stock so seems like I'm stuck with a printer I can't use right now.

Any solutions or ideas 💡🤔

Hi @Jamie62,

I'd like to help!

The cartridge number for your region is HP 653 Black and HP 653 Tri-color.

The printer code is provided on a printed page. If you are setting up a new printer, install the ink or toner cartridges that came in the box before printing the page. Claim code cannot be emailed or sent to you it must be printed by the printer.

You use one cartridge to print the code.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
