Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer

Hello, very new here. I believe this topic has been brought up numerous times but, I'm new to the issue.

I have a officejet pro all in one printer 8720. Ran out of the yellow 952 ink. Got genuine HP ink but, it was a year+ older.(Sealed). Now I get the "older generation cartridge" message. I was told that you can possibly bypass this with downgrading the "upgrades" so you can use older generation cartridges.

 

I can't find any information on this. Btw, all the cartridges are full and ready to go except yellow...which in turn stops the printer from functioning. Any information regarding this will be appreciated. Thanks.
