Just bought a new HP printer; have an unused ink cartridge from the old one. Can I return it?

HP’s return policy for ink cartridges depends on where you purchased it and whether it’s unopened. Here are your options:

If Purchased from HP Directly (HP Store)

• HP typically allows returns within 30 days if the cartridge is unopened and in original packaging.
• You can check HP’s return policy or start a return on their website: HP Store Returns & Refunds.

If Purchased from a Retailer (Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, etc.)

• The return policy depends on the retailer.
• Most stores allow returns within 15–30 days if unopened. Some may refuse returns on ink due to tampering concerns.

HP Instant Ink Subscription?

• If the cartridge is from an HP Instant Ink subscription, it cannot be returned for a refund but can be recycled through HP’s recycling program.

Note: HP Instant Ink is based on the pages you print, not cartridges or shipments you receive.
