I get cyan dots down the center of page. I recently changed printer cartridges to HP OEM cartridges, hoping that might correct the problem. It did not!

@ACD2, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

For your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw printer, follow these steps to diagnose and fix the issue of cyan dots appearing down the center of the page:

1. Inspect the Toner Cartridge

  • Remove the toner cartridges from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
  • Grasp both sides of the toner cartridge and gently rock the cartridge to distribute the toner.
  • Check the memory chips for damage.
  • Examine the surface of the roller on the toner cartridges.

Note: Avoid touching the roller directly, as fingerprints can cause print-quality problems.

2. Print a Print Quality Page

Print the print quality page to isolate the issue. This page contains bands of color which help identify defects in specific cartridges.

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Setup button.
  2. Open the Reports menu.
  3. Touch the Print Quality Page option and press OK.

Interpretation of results:

  • If dots appear in the cyan band (group of bands), it indicates the issue with the cyan toner cartridge.
  • Verify if dots appear in multiple color bands. If the issue persists even across multiple colors, contact HP support as it may be a component other than the toner causing the problem.

3. Calibrate the Printer

If the printed output has colored shadows or blurry graphics, you may need to calibrate the printer.

Calibration Steps for Touchscreen Control Panel:

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Setup button.
  2. Open the following menus:
    • System Setup
    • Print Quality
    • Color Calibration
    • Select Calibrate Now and press OK.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have the same issue with my MFP M277dw printing Cyan dots on the full page - not just in the cyan colour band.   You noted that it may be a component rather than the toner - what components are you referring to?  Where can I reach out to  HP Support about this?

Thanks!
