Defects happen, if this is an actual HP cartridge, either contact technical support or return to place of purchase to get a replacement. If third party, contact vendor for replacement.

I have the exact same problem.  Brand new OEM HP SEALED 3 Pack of HP 202x Yellow, Cyan and Magenta Cartridges.   I decided to replace all three.   Opened each sealed box, ripped open each sealed plastic crate and installed them all. All have been recognized as official HP cartridges by my printer.  All show up in the supplies status at 100% full.  Yet, the magenta one has a color box that is a very faint yellow,     EXACT SAME PROBLEM NUMEROUS people with the MFP M281 are reporting.   And yet the ONLY solution I've seen is to buy another cartridge or contact HP.   Well, have you tried to contact HP?!  Hence why they have funneled me into this forum.
