Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Magenta color printing misaligned. I downloaded the latest HP Smart software but it cannot find/recognize my printer model so I cannot use it to optimize print quality. Perhaps there is a manual way on the printer to fix this? Thanks for anyone's advice.

Welcome to the HP support community.

Check the print cartridges for sealing tape and any damage

  1. Open the print cartridge door completely.

  2. Pull out the print cartridge drawer completely, if your printer has one.

  3. To each print cartridge, grasp the handle, and then pull straight out to remove it.

  4. If the print cartridge seal is in place, remove it. Pull the tab on the end of the print cartridge to remove the entire length of the seal.

  5. Check the print cartridges for leaks, gouges, and broken plastic.

  6. Check the imaging drum on each print cartridge for contamination, marks, scratches, excess toner, or any other obvious damage.

       CAUTION:

Do not touch the green roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the print cartridge. Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.

  7. Reinstall each print cartridge, and then close the print cartridge drawer completely if your printer has one.

  8. Try to print.

Hello Sandytech20. I am sorry for my slow reaction. I tried your suggestion but to no avail. 1. I had already been using these cartridges so had removed the seal a while ago when I installed them. Printing was fine when first installed and until just the last few months. 2. Nothing seemed awry regarding the cartridges or drum when I visibly inspected them. FYI when the previous version of the HP Smart software could recognize this printer, I was able to fix this issue using the software when it happened one other time several years ago. Not sure if this is helpful. Any other ideas? It’s still a great printer and hate to have to toss it or have to pay more than its worth to have a tech fix it. Thank you, Mathew

Hello Sandytechy20. Your 1-6 procedure did not work as you outlined. There is no #5 or 6 in that procedure anyway. After country and SN it jumps to an options page. I chose the "Out of Warranty" options. It jumps to page to chose product and I chose laser jet. It then comes back with a list of "HP Care Back" packages. There are many there and went through them twice. There is no option for my LaserJet CP1215 unfortunately. There is chat box that pops up but then you click on the pull down menus to chose categories it jumps to someplace else. "UGH!" if you know what I mean. How difficult is it once one keys in the SN and location to drill down to specific choices in one click? How much time (for both of us) has this taken and I really feel no closer to finding out how to fix this? Anyway not sure that I am going to use up any more time working on this. HP should look to companies with gold standard customer service methods like Apple, Amazon and Southwest Airlines. I am blown away how they make you feel like your their only customer.  Take care and thanks anyway. Mathew
