Hi @rkdepot,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting magenta horizontal streaks on prints from an HP Officejet Pro 8600 its could indicate a few potential issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the magenta ink cartridge has sufficient ink. Replace the cartridge if it's low or empty.
  • Clean Print Heads: Use the printer's utility software to clean the print heads. This can often resolve streaking issues caused by clogged print heads. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings or maintenance menu.
  • Align Print Heads: If the print heads are misaligned, it can cause streaking. Run the printer's alignment utility to ensure the print heads are properly aligned.
  • Check Paper Quality: Low-quality or incompatible paper can sometimes cause streaking issues. Make sure you're using the correct type and quality of paper for your printer.
  • Inspect for Physical Damage: Check the printer's components, particularly the print head and cartridges, for any signs of physical damage or defects. Replace any damaged components.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers and firmware installed for your printer. Sometimes, updating these can resolve printing issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Run Diagnostic Tests: Many printers have built-in diagnostic tests that can help identify and resolve printing problems. Check your printer's manual or support documentation for instructions on how to run these tests.
