HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One

I just bought and setup this printer but when it came to the alignment step it didn’t work. I’ve tried numerous times to realign it as shown in the HP Smart App but with no success. It continues to print color slightly offset and I’m not sure what to do. I wanted to reinstall the printheads but when I open the printer the printhead-tray doesn’t move to where I can access it. The printer is aware that the lid is opened but it does not move the printhead-tray which seems like a bug. I’ve attached a scan and two pictures of a testprint where you can clearly see the misalignment. Also I tried to do a firmware update (through the printer’s webpage) but it gives an error every time.

 

Does this problem have a simple solution or do I have to send it back? Thanks in advance!

If you are experiencing a misaligned printhead issue with your HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One printer, there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the problem. Misaligned printheads can result in poor print quality and may cause text or images to appear skewed or distorted. Here's what you can do.

 

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your printer has enough ink in all the cartridges. Low ink levels can sometimes lead to printing issues.
  • Clean Printhead: HP printers often have a built-in utility to clean the printhead. Access your printer's settings through the control panel or the accompanying software on your computer and look for the maintenance or tools section. There should be an option to clean the printhead.
  • Align Printhead: HP printers usually have an automatic printhead alignment feature. This process ensures that the printhead is correctly aligned for accurate printing. Again, access your printer's settings and look for the alignment option.
  • Manual Cleaning: If the automatic cleaning doesn't solve the issue, you can try manually cleaning the printhead. Refer to your printer's user manual or HP's support website for specific instructions on how to do this properly.
  • Update Firmware and Drivers: Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. Check HP's official website for any available updates for your printer model.
  • Inspect Paper Handling: Sometimes, misalignment issues can be caused by improper paper loading. Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray and that the paper guides are snug against the paper stack.
  • Reset Printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve stubborn software-related issues.
