HP Recommended

Purchased a hp printer from thrift store it only came with one ink cartridge, which was black no colored cartilage.so I connected this x printer to my hp ink account since there was no cartilage in the color spot. It can't be read by insta ink so it's say I won't get an ink cartilage for color because the level of ink can't be read.Help !!!!what do I do ?
