Hello, I have the HP Officejet 8022e. I do not have the setup cartridge and I have had this printer for a while. I cannot return it. I need a way to continue the setup because I could have sworn, I remember setting this up over a year ag but now it is saying I need the setup cartridge when I plugged in the printer.

Hi @Tonyeugene077,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're unable to locate the setup cartridge for your HP Officejet 8022e and need to complete the setup, there are a few alternative steps you can try.

Skip Setup:

  • Turn on your printer and wait for it to initialize.
  • When prompted for the setup cartridge, see if there is an option to skip or continue without it.

Reset Printer:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds and then plug it back in.
  • Turn the printer back on and check if you can proceed with the setup without the setup cartridge.

Online Setup:

  • Visit the official HP website or use the HP Smart app to set up your printer online. You may be able to skip the initial setup cartridge requirement by configuring the printer through these online platforms.

Reset to Factory Defaults:

  • Please note that this step will erase any custom settings on your printer.
  • Look for a reset button or option in your printer's settings to reset it to factory defaults. After the reset, try setting it up again.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, firmware updates may include fixes for such issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
