I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 Series: I was emailed three documents in PDF form. I attempted to print each of the three with the same result...it would print about 1/3 correctly and then fill in the remaining 2/3rds with multiple horizonal rows of various colors.
I tested the printer with document from a different source and there was no problem. I then turned the printer off and restarted the computer. I tried once again to print the PDF and the same problem occurred.
I'm stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @bronxguy1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check the PDF File:
- Since the issue persists with only specific PDF documents, there may be a problem with how they are formatted or created. Try opening the PDF in a different viewer, such as Foxit Reader or Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Rasterize the PDF:
- Convert the PDF to an image file (like JPEG) and then print. You can do this using tools like Adobe Acrobat or by saving the PDF as an image using available software tools.
Update Printer Software:
- Ensure you have the latest HP printer software and drivers installed. Visit the HP Support page for updates specific to your printer model.
Check Printer Settings:
- Verify the print settings to ensure no adjustments are causing the issue:
- Set print quality to normal or draft.
- Ensure no color management settings are applied that could affect output.
Change PDF Printing Method:
- In the print dialog of your PDF application, select "Print as Image" before printing. This option can resolve any compatibility issues with interpreting PDF page data.
Test with a Different PDF Viewer:
- Use a different PDF application to open and print the document. Some viewers might handle PDF standards differently and could avoid the issue.
Inspect PDF for Corruption:
- Try opening the PDF and inspecting for any visible issues. If you suspect corruption, request a re-send of the file from the original sender.
Perform Printer Maintenance:
- Run any available maintenance tools from your printer settings or software suite, such as printhead cleaning or alignment procedures.
Change Print Media:
- Occasionally, issues may arise due to specific paper types or thicknesses. Try using different paper stock to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
