After installing new cartridges that came from HP in my printer, it will not print.

I understand your HP Envy 6458e won't print after installing new cartridges, several potential issues could be causing the problem. 

Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

 

1. Check Cartridge Installation

Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly:

  • Open the printer's cartridge access door.
  • Verify that each cartridge is seated properly in its slot. You should hear a click when the cartridge is correctly installed.

2. Align the Printer Cartridges

After installing new cartridges, the printer may need to align them:

  • On the printer's control panel, look for the option to align the cartridges. This can often be found under maintenance or setup options.

3. Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle

Sometimes, the printhead needs to be cleaned to ensure proper ink flow:

  • Go to the printer's maintenance menu and select "Clean Printhead" or a similar option.

4. Check Printer Status and Connection

Make sure the printer is properly connected and set up:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
  • Check the printer's status on your Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and make sure the HP Envy 6458e is listed and set as the default printer.

5. Reset the Printing System

Resetting the printing system can help resolve software-related issues:

  • Open System Preferences on your Mac.
