HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile All-in-One Printer

I have an HP Office Jet all in one mobile printer that was sent as a replacement for an older model.  Often it fails to detect paper size and Ink Cartridges.  It gives a message to select paper size at random times,and will instruct me to remove the color cartridge that is indicated and replace to try again.  I have a brand-new HP cartridge in Black and also in Color that will not be recognized.  I don' t know how to trouble shoot the problem or get the cartridges replaced.  I got them on Amazon.  Amazon states to contact the manufacturer.  Seems it is impossible to speak with someone at HP.  I have also lost connection for the scanner feature

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

Restart the Printer and Computer

  • Turn off the printer. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
  • Restart your computer to ensure there are no pending software issues.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to Control PanelProgramsPrograms and Features. Find and uninstall any HP printer software.
  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and download the latest drivers. 

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Printer Won’t Recognize Ink Cartridges

  • Take out the ink cartridges and check if the protective tape has been removed from the contacts.
  • Wipe the gold/copper contacts on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth and put them back in firmly.
  • Run a cleaning cycle from the printer’s menu under Printer Maintenance.

Printer Keeps Asking for Paper Size

  • Instead of relying on the printer to automatically detect the paper size, go into Settings > Paper Size and manually select it.
