My HP officejet Pro 8710 is starting to print a line down one side of everything I print. I'm using instant ink, but my printer is out of warranty. Is there anything that I can do to get rid of that line?

Hi @tomlopez

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Horizontal lines on prints from your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 can often be resolved with some maintenance and troubleshooting.

Here's what you can try:

1. Clean the Printhead:

  • On the printer's control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard.
  • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to clean the printhead. You may need to repeat this process a few times for optimal results.

2. Align the Printhead:

  • Misalignment can cause horizontal lines. On the control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
  • Follow the prompts to complete the alignment process.

3. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support page for your printer model and download the latest firmware updates. Firmware updates can resolve bugs and improve print quality.

4. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can automatically detect and fix common print quality issues.

5. Inspect for Debris or Obstructions:

  • Open the printer and inspect the printhead and rollers for any debris or dried ink.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean these areas.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
