Hi @Eugenebrowne,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue after installing new ink cartridges on your printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Thank you Irwin6 but nothing has worked yet from your recent suggestions. There are no Accepted Solutions - Yet!.

Using a Partial and SemiFull reset I managed to download and install the very latest firmware dated this month. WEBBPDLPP1N001.2423A.00 .  However nothing changed and all activity on the printer remains stalled and the printer message is."Use new cartriges for startup" (in the top line) and in the main screen" New, unused cartridges must be used for startup"

However on one recent change of cartridges during this rediculously longwinded process I got the message"Use the cartriges that came with the printer"  Those of course are long gone. That message has not appeared again.

I have contacted my HP ink supplier here in Australia (Inkstation) and he suggested if there is nothing wrong with the printer,  the ink cartridges can be replaced under warranty. with HP.  The current warranties are Cyan 2025/10, Magenta 2025/03, Yellow 2025/09, and Black 2025/10.

Is there any chance that in introducing Dynaminc Security some older genuine HP cartriges are no longer compataible, and are being rejected by the latest firmware?

Anyhow my situation still is that I have a printer that will not work despite having 4 full Genuine HP cartridges installed.

Hi HP Community,

It seems there is no further response from Irwin.  Is there any one else in HP Community that can advise on this issue..

Is replacement of the ink cartridges under warranty a viable option that might work?
