Hello my Smart Tank 710-720 is not printing in cyan color, not even in the diagnose pages after running all the print quality tools. The tank is full but seems the printer is not recognizing it. I cannot refill cause it is already ful.

It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 710-720 printer is not recognizing or using the cyan ink, even though the tank is full. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

 

Check the Ink Levels in the Software

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Check the ink levels for the cyan ink in the app. Sometimes, the software might not reflect the correct ink levels.
  • If the ink level shows as full but it still doesn't print, continue with the next steps.

Clean the Printheads

  • Automatic Cleaning: Go to your printer settings and run the Printhead Cleaning Tool. This may help clear any dried ink or blockages in the cyan printhead.
    • On the printer control panel, go to MaintenanceClean Printheads.
  • Manual Cleaning: If the automatic cleaning doesn’t work, you may need to clean the printhead manually.
    • Turn off the printer and open the printhead access door.
    • Carefully remove the printhead and gently wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.

Check the Vent of the Cyan Ink Cartridge

  • Ensure the vent on the top of the cyan ink bottle or tank is not clogged.
    • Open the ink compartment and check if there is a small vent on top of the cyan ink.
    • If it's blocked, gently clean the vent using a pin or a small needle to ensure proper airflow.

Run Printhead Alignment and Diagnostics

  • Run a Printhead Alignment from the HP Smart app or the printer settings.
  • After that, try printing a Print Quality Diagnostic page again to see if cyan prints properly.

Reset the Printer

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and power it on to see if this resolves the issue.
  • Factory Reset: If the problem persists, you can try a factory reset of the printer. Refer to the user manual for steps on how to reset your HP Smart Tank 710-720 printer to its default settings.

Update Firmware

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date, as outdated firmware can cause issues with recognizing ink levels or cartridges.

Reinstall the HP Smart Software

  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart software on your device to reset communication between the software and the printer.
