Welcome to the HP English Community --

Fortunately, the printer has no knowledge of what it is printing.

There is perhaps a translation issue within the document -- the image data is not translating to something the printer can understand.

What you do depends on the tools you have available --

An easier "try this first" option:

Export the document to PDF and print that.

PDF does not treat image data the same way it is handled in Word.

Fastest – Export document to PDF

Export your Word document to PDF format and print that file.

If that is not enough, Export to PDF > Open > Print as Image

PDF - Print as Image

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional Foxit Reader)

  • HINT: Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software
  • Adobe Reader DC software should be installed even if you do not open / view / print PDF files directly from the software.

If the file will not print due to unusual content (odd fonts, color schemes, Tables, other oddities), print the file as an Image. Image printing does not require the printer software to translate file content.

  • Export and Save the document to your computer in PDF format.
  • Open the offending document in Adobe Reader DC
  • Click Print icon > Set other options on the menu > Click Advanced button
  • Set the printer select the colors (Optional)
  • Select Print the PDF file as an image

 =================================================

If you must (or want to) work with the Word document, there are options you can try to correct the image content.

Make sure the image has been placed into the document using Insert as opposed to Copy / Paste.

Additional Actions to Consider

Preferences - Correct odd / wrong-sized Image Sizes (for example, when printed from Word)

Samples...

Verify / Adjust Setting in Preferences

Windows 10

Windows key > Search for and open Control Panel

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

Check the list of devices – Select / Open Printer

Select Printing Preferences

Adjust / Create Preferences / Shortcuts

Next,

Tab Advanced

UNCHECK HP Real Life Technologies

Click OK to save change

OR possibly in this alternate location

Tab Layout > Click Advanced > Switch OFF HP Real Life Technologies

Click OK to save change

=================================================

Always use Insert as opposed to copy/paste to add images to your Word documents.

After the image is inserted into the document, Right-Click on the image and select Size and Position

Adjust as needed.

=================================================

"Fix the image" as it appears in your Word Document

If you do not already have a copy of the image file, create a file from the image in your Word document.

Open your Word document

Right-Click on the Image

Use "Save-As" and save the image as a .jpg file on your computer.

Pay attention to the folder in which you save the file...

Use Insert >

Find the Image, possibly in folder Pictures

Insert the image file into your Word document.

Right-Click on the image (after it is placed in the document)

Adjust the Size and Position to move the image inside the document boundaries.

 Word – Document Line Spacing

Word > Line spacing can get you into trouble,

When the other settings are correct, check / set / adjust the line spacing (before / after) the image placement to "single space" (as opposed to Normal).

Open the Paragraph drop down menu > Tab Line and Page Breaks

Check the Pagination and Formatting exceptions --

For example, if lines are broken in awkward places, adjust whether words can be hyphenated.

Adjust the Image Size and Quality in Word

If it is only the "one" image that is misbehaving, you likely do not have to change this setting...

Word document > File > More > Options > Advanced

In Section Image Size and Quality

CHECK Do not compress images in file

and

Select a Default Resolution

For example, 220 ppi or 150 ppi

A lower number creates a less dense image (and slightly reduces overall file size).
