When I print a test page only cyan and magenta appear....no yellow or black.

@lizak, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

I understand you are not able to print in yellow or black. 

 

Ensure you are using HP ink cartridges.

Check the ink levels and replace any low/empty ink cartridges. 

Clean the ink cartridges as mentioned in this document - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issues

Print a quality report to check the result. 

 

If you have alternate black and yellow ink cartridges available, use them and check the result. By this, we can conclude if the issue is with the ink cartridges or the printer.

 

If the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue. 

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the replacement options.

 

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm afraid I have a hardware issue and will need to replace.  However, I have a number of new 940XL replacement ink cartridges that I would like to use.  Does HP have any printers that use the 940XL cartridges?

Unfortunately, none of the new printers use HP 940XL ink cartridges. You may contact Hp Store to check for available options.
