My 2700e series printer will NOT print black and the cartridge is over half full. The ink was bought in July. I used it once or twice.

Hi @Mitch006,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet 2700e series printer isn’t printing black even though the cartridge is over half full, try these troubleshooting steps.

  • Check Ink Levels: Verify the ink levels through the printer’s display or the HP Smart app to ensure the black ink isn’t empty or near empty.
  • Clean Print Head: Run the print head cleaning utility from your printer's settings or the HP Smart app. This can help clear any clogs that might be affecting the black ink.
  • Check for Air Bubbles: Sometimes, air bubbles can block the ink flow. Remove the cartridge and gently shake it horizontally to see if this helps.
  • Reinstall Cartridge: Remove and reinstall the black ink cartridge to ensure it’s seated properly.
  • Print Head Alignment: Perform a print head alignment from the printer settings. Misalignment can cause poor print quality.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date, as updates can fix various printing issues.
  • Replace Cartridge: If none of the above steps work, consider replacing the black ink cartridge with a new one, as it may be defective even if it appears to have ink.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
