Hi @C223 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Envy 4500 e-All-in-One printer is showing an error indicating that the cartridge must be replaced due to being out of ink, you'll need to replace the ink cartridge. Here's a general guide on how to do it:

May I know

1. Since when are you facing this issue

2. Have you made any changes on your printer post that this issue raised and have you observed any light blinking on the display

3. May I know if you are using genuine cartridges
4. May I know if you have changed the cartridges

  • Open the printer lid: Lift the top cover of your printer to access the ink cartridges. The carriage will move to the center of the printer.
  • Wait for the carriage to stop moving: Once you've opened the lid, wait for the carriage to stop moving and become silent before proceeding.
  • Remove the old cartridge: Press down gently on the ink cartridge you need to replace to release it from its slot. Pull the cartridge out toward you to remove it from the printer.
  • Prepare the new cartridge: Take the new ink cartridge out of its packaging. Remove any protective tape or plastic covering from the cartridge. Be careful not to touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles.
  • Install the new cartridge: Slide the new cartridge into the empty slot at the same angle you removed the old cartridge. Push it gently but firmly until it snaps into place.
  • Close the printer lid: Once you've replaced all the necessary cartridges, close the printer lid.
  • Align the cartridges (if required): Sometimes, the printer may prompt you to align the cartridges after replacing them. Follow the on-screen instructions or use the printer's control panel to perform the alignment process if necessary.
  • Test the printer: After replacing the cartridges, try printing a test page to ensure that the printer is functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
