@johncampala,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Check the Cartridge Installation

  • Open the printer’s front cover and remove the tri-color cartridge.
  • Reinsert it firmly into its slot and ensure it clicks into place.
  • Close the cover and check if the error disappears.

2. Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the tri-color cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge.
  • Let it dry completely before reinserting.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from power for 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Try printing again.

4. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure you are using a genuine HP 65 Tri-color cartridge (not HP 64, HP 67, etc.).
  • If it’s a refilled or third-party cartridge, try a genuine one to see if the issue persists.

5. Align the Cartridges

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Cartridges and follow the on-screen instructions.

6. Try Printing a Different File

  • If the cartridge issue disappears but your photo still won’t print, try printing a different image or a test page.
  • Ensure the correct paper size and photo paper type are selected in your print settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
