Hp office jet pro 7720

My printer ink was low so I bought new ink and now the printer will only print the colored ink and wont print the black ink. I have tried cleaning the printer head and aligned the printer head in the tools section but it still wont work.

@Ayinke1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 is not printing black ink even after replacing the ink cartridges, cleaning the printhead, and aligning it, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Double-check the Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed. It should click into place when you insert it into the cartridge slot.

Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges:

  • Non-HP ink cartridges can sometimes cause issues with print quality. Make sure the black cartridge you're using is a genuine HP product.

Perform a Printhead Cleaning:

  • You mentioned having already cleaned the printhead. However, it might be beneficial to perform another cleaning cycle. This is because sometimes clogs can be persistent, and multiple cleanings are necessary.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware updates. You can find updates on the HP Support page for your printer model.

Examine the Black Ink Cartridge:

  • Check the ink level in the black cartridge. Even new cartridges can be defective. If the ink level appears low, consider replacing it with another new cartridge.

Reset the Printer:

  • Unplug the printer from the power source while it's turned on. Wait about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can resolve certain issues by resetting the printer's internal memory.
