Hi @Cricketrose1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges might not display the correct ink levels.
  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are making proper contact.

Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer cover and remove the ink cartridges.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the ink cartridges.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the printer back in and turn it on. This can help reset the ink level detection.

Update Printer Firmware and Software:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Check the HP Support Site for any available firmware updates for your specific printer model.
  • Update the printer software on your computer, as outdated software can sometimes cause incorrect ink level readings.

Check Estimated Ink Levels:

Depending on your operating system, do one of the following to open the printer software:

  • Windows 8: On the Start screen, right-click an empty area on the screen, click All Apps on the app bar, and then click the icon with the printer's name.
  • Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP: From the computer desktop, click Start, select All Programs, click HP, click HP Deskjet series, and then click HP Deskjet series.

In the printer software, click Estimated Ink Levels to check the ink levels in your cartridges.

I hope this helps.
