HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g

My printer isn’t working.  I am getting the error message “There is a problem with the printer or ink system.”  I have turned the printer on and off but the problem still persists. Can you help.

Hi @Jacksonvill

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message “There is a problem with the printer or ink system” can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove them and reseat them to make sure they are in place.
  • Check for any protective tape that may not have been removed from the cartridges.

2. Inspect for Damage

  • Look for any signs of damage to the cartridges or the print head. If the cartridges are old or low on ink, consider replacing them with new ones.

3. Clean the Print Head

  • If your printer allows it, use the built-in cleaning function to clean the print head:
    • Go to the printer's control panel.
    • Look for Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead or a similar option.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on again.

5. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions that might be causing the error.

6. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.

7. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can help diagnose and fix printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
