Hi @AngieFN,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is displaying an ink error message despite having ink cartridges installed, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Make sure to check the ink levels in the printer software on your computer or on the printer's display panel (if available). Ensure that the ink levels are sufficient.

Reinstall Ink Cartridges:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Carefully reinsert the ink cartridges into their respective slots.
  • Power on the printer and check if the error persists.

Clean the Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Locate the metal contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  • Gently clean the contacts using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with distilled water.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely.
  • Reinsert the cartridges and turn on the printer.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the official HP website, enter your printer model, and download and install any available firmware updates.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure that there are no obstructions in the paper path or around the ink cartridges that may be preventing proper operation.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Disconnect any cables from the printer.
  • Wait for about 5 minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cable and any other cables.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the error is resolved.

Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Most printers have a diagnostic or maintenance option in their settings menu. Run a diagnostic or maintenance routine to identify and resolve any issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
