@Ron368, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer prints in color but only copies in black and white, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check Copy Settings on the Printer
- On the printer's control panel (or via the HP Smart app), make sure the copy mode is set to color.
- Sometimes, the default copy setting is set to black & white or grayscale.
Use the HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 PC or mobile device.
- Select Copy from the app.
- Ensure Color is selected before starting the copy job.
- This can help override any incorrect settings on the printer itself.
Update Firmware and Software
- Go to the HP ENVY 6455e support page.
- Download and install the latest firmware and HP Smart app updates.
Reset the Printer
- Unplug the printer while it is on.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
- This can reset internal settings that might be stuck.
Try a Different Copy Source
- If you're copying from the scanner glass, ensure the document is placed correctly.
- If using the automatic document feeder (ADF), try using the scanner glass instead to rule out ADF issues.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
