Hi @wm131,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your yellow ink is coming out spotty despite having a new cartridge installed in your HP ENVY 7645, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Troubleshooting Steps
Print a Test Page:
- Print a test page or a nozzle check from your printer settings. This will help you determine if the issue is isolated to the yellow ink.
Clean the Printhead:
- Use the printer's built-in printhead cleaning function. You can find this option in the printer settings or through the HP Smart app. Run the cleaning cycle a couple of times.
Check Ink Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that the yellow ink cartridge is properly installed. Remove it and reinsert it to confirm it's seated correctly.
Inspect the Printhead:
- If the printer allows access, gently clean the printhead using a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Be careful not to touch any electronic components.
Check for Air Bubbles:
- Sometimes air can get trapped in the ink cartridge. Remove the cartridge and gently shake it horizontally a few times. This can help dislodge any bubbles.
Print Quality Diagnostic:
- Run a print quality diagnostic from the printer settings. This will often provide insights into the issue and may automatically clean the printhead if necessary.
Use HP Ink:
- Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges, as third-party cartridges can sometimes cause issues with print quality.
Check for Obstructions:
- Look for any debris or clogs in the cartridge area or printhead that could affect ink flow.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
