I got my printer 2 years ago and signed up for instant ink without knowing what it was. In the 2 years that I have been subscribed, I have received ZERO shipments of ink. i got a pack of paper delivered TWICE over the course of 2 years. I decided that i'm paying for nothing so I canceled my subscription a few weeks ago. now, my printer WON'T ALLOW ME TO PRINT! it states that i need an instant ink subscription to use the current ink i have!!!! that is absolutely insane!!!! i have never used up my current ink cartridge so why cant i use whats still there?! Do i need to pay to not have ink delivered in order to use the ink i still have??!! something is not adding up! I want a refund for every month i payed for ink that i never received! and the absolute gall HP has to not allow you to use up your current cartridge because your not enrolled in this intant ink scam is appalling.

Welcome to the HP English Community --
This is not the first time someone has signed up for a service contract without knowing how the service and the contract work.
Instant Ink is a great service for those who print enough to make the service worth having.
Who Benefits?
For example, Artists, teachers, large families, small home offices, community centers, churches, and others for whom purchasing ink would be more expensive or who need automatic deliveries for any reason.
Occasional printing does severely limit the value of a Print-by-Page service that includes ink and, in this case, paper.
What happened?
After the contract is terminated -- and regardless of how or why that comes about -- all Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges stop working.
What?
You never owned the Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges.
All Instant Ink cartridges, including those cartridges activated as part of the service and all Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges sent to you while the contract is active, stop working after the contract is ended.
Instant Ink cartridges can (should) be returned to HP -- the service is free.
What to do?
Purchase a new set of HP Ink cartridges and install the cartridges into the printer.
