I have a new 2 pack Black& color Printer Cartridges(HP INC code: 93434 00802) which were installed.  They both worked for a short period and then the COLOR cartridge failed to communicate with Printer. I checked out printer thoroughly and it was fine.  When I put another color cartidge into Printer, it worked.  The problem is with the new Cartidge not being effective - there's a defect with it and I would like to return it  for a replacemnt (new) one. How do I do that

Hi @JimRabbit,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re having trouble with a new color cartridge not communicating properly with your HP ENVY Photo 7858 printer. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridge you are using is compatible with your printer model. Sometimes, third-party or incorrect cartridges may cause communication issues.
  • Inspect the Cartridge: Examine the contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer. If there is any ink or debris on the contacts, gently clean them with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the Cartridge: Remove the problematic color cartridge and reinstall it. Make sure it clicks into place firmly.
  • Reset the Printer: Sometimes a simple reset can resolve communication issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the firmware can resolve many printer issues.
  • Try Another Cartridge: If you have another new color cartridge (or an older one that you know works), try installing it to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
