@JHogan529, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 6958 isn't printing black after installing a new HP 902XL black cartridge even after running multiple cleaning cycles, here are some steps you can try:
Check Cartridge Vent
Make sure the plastic tab that covers the vent on the new cartridge has been fully removed. Also, inspect the vent for any blockages. You can gently clean it with a soft cloth or pin if needed.
Run a Printhead Cleaning (Again)
Even though you've done this three times, sometimes it takes more. Try running the deep cleaning or second-level cleaning from the printer’s maintenance menu.
Print a Diagnostic Page
From the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app, print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page. This can help determine if the issue is with the black ink or the printhead.
Try Copying a Black Document
Place a black-and-white document on the scanner and use the Copy function. If it still prints blank, the issue is likely hardware-related (printhead or ink flow).
Manually Clean the Printhead
If the above steps don’t work, you might need to manually clean the printhead.
Firmware Update
Ensure your printer has the latest firmware. You can check this via the HP Smart app or the HP support site.
Try Another Cartridge
If possible, try a different black cartridge (even a standard HP 902) to rule out a defective cartridge.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
