@bajarose, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP cartridge issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your printer indicates that it has a full black ink cartridge but is not printing black ink, there could be several possible reasons. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Run a Printhead Check:

  • Perform a printhead check to ensure all nozzles are firing correctly. This can sometimes reveal whether the printhead is blocked or malfunctioning.

Printhead Cleaning:

  • Inspect the printheads. If they appear clogged or dirty, manually clean them. You can use a lint-free cloth and distilled water to gently wipe the printhead. This often resolves issues caused by dried ink or debris.

Replace the Ink Cartridge:

  • Even if the ink levels show as full, the cartridge itself might be faulty. Replace the black ink cartridge with a new one to determine if this resolves the problem.

Check the Maintenance Cartridge:

  • Check if the maintenance cartridge is full. If it is, replace it, as a full maintenance cartridge can sometimes affect the functioning of the printheads.

Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Use the printer’s built-in diagnostics tools, such as the printhead alignment test, to check for any issues with the printheads or ink flow.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
