So I started up my new printer today. The setup was really easy, although I only manage to print from my phone for the moment. Not fully sure why. The issue I have though is that I managed to print 5! Yes 5 pages before the ink ran out and the sheets started to look bad. Sure these where invitation papers which required some inc, but seriously, 2 of them looked okay. Why even include inc? Not sure I will have to get to get new inc before the event takes place.

Hi @Androoooid ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It’s great to hear that your initial setup went smoothly! However, running out of ink after just a few pages can be frustrating. Here's what might be happening and some steps to help:
Why the Ink Ran Out Quickly:
- Starter Cartridges: Most printers come with starter cartridges that have less ink than standard ones. They're intended to get you through initial setup and testing but aren't meant for high-volume printing.
- High Ink Usage for Invitations: Printing invitations, especially if they include dense graphics or vibrant colors, can consume a lot of ink. Even with standard cartridges, these types of prints can deplete ink quickly.
- Print Quality Settings: If the print quality was set to "Best" or similar, this also uses more ink.
What You Can Do:
Check Cartridge Levels:
- Open the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 PC or phone.
- View the estimated ink levels to confirm if they're really empty.
Optimize Printing for Future Pages:
- Use draft mode for printing less critical documents.
- Adjust the print quality to "Normal" or "Draft" for less ink consumption.
Consider Instant Ink Subscription:
- HP offers an Instant Ink subscription that delivers ink to your door before you run out. For event-heavy periods, this can be cost-effective.
Stock Up on Standard or XL Cartridges:
- Purchase HP 305 or HP 305XL cartridges (if you're in a region where these are compatible). The XL cartridges offer more ink and last significantly longer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
