Hi @JDoc1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Connecting your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer to an Acer Chromebook 15 should be relatively straightforward, but there can be a few hurdles. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the connection issues:
1. Check Printer and Chromebook Compatibility:
- Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is compatible with Chrome OS. The printer should be compatible with Google Cloud Print or other methods supported by Chrome OS.
2. Ensure Printer is Set Up and Connected:
- Power On: Make sure the printer is turned on and properly connected to your network (Wi-Fi or wired).
- Network Connection: Check if the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromebook. You can print a network configuration page from the printer’s settings to verify its connection.
3. Add Printer to Chromebook:
- Open Settings: On your Chromebook, click on the clock in the lower-right corner and select the gear icon to open Settings.
- Printers: In the Settings menu, scroll down and click on Advanced to expand additional options. Under Printing, select Printers.
- Add Printer: Click on Add Printer. Your Chromebook should automatically search for available printers on the network. If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e appears, select it and follow the prompts to add it.
4. Use Google Cloud Print (Deprecated but Useful for Legacy Systems):
- Printer Setup: Ensure your HP printer is connected to Google Cloud Print. Note that Google Cloud Print was deprecated as of December 31, 2020, but if your printer was set up prior to this, you might still be able to use it.
- Add Printer: If your printer is still registered with Google Cloud Print, you can add it to your Chromebook’s list of printers by following similar steps in the Printers section of Chrome OS settings.
5. Update Printer Firmware:
- Check for Updates: Go to the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e. Follow the instructions to update the firmware if needed.
6. Use HP Smart App:
- Install HP Smart: Although the HP Smart app is not directly available on Chrome OS, you can use it from a different device (e.g., a smartphone or another computer) to set up and manage your printer. Make sure the printer is properly configured and connected through the HP Smart app.
- Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer status in the HP Smart app shows that it’s connected to the same network as your Chromebook.
7. Reset Network Settings:
- Reset Printer: If you’re having trouble with the network connection, try resetting the printer’s network settings. This option can usually be found in the printer’s menu under Network Settings or Wireless Settings.
- Reconnect: After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and try adding it again to your Chromebook.
8. Print from Web Apps:
- Web-Based Printing: Try printing from a web app or directly from a web browser on your Chromebook. Ensure that you’re using web-based applications that are compatible with Chrome OS.
9. Check for ChromOS Updates:
- Update Chrome OS: Ensure that your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS. Go to Settings > About Chrome OS and check for updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
