Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Ink Cartridge Issues on HP OfficeJet Pro 8710!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is indicating that the new ink cartridge is empty, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check for Compatibility:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct ink cartridge model for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. HP recommends using genuine HP cartridges. You can verify the compatibility of your cartridges here.

Inspect Cartridges for Packaging Material:

  • Make sure that all packaging materials, including protective films or tapes, have been removed from the ink cartridges.

Reinsert the Ink Cartridge:

  • Remove the ink cartridge from the printer and then carefully reinsert it into the correct slot. Make sure it snaps securely into place.

Check Cartridge Levels:

  • Access the printer’s control panel, navigate to "Cartridge Information," and select "Estimated Levels" to confirm if it still indicates empty.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on to see if this clears any errors.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates through the HP Support website or the printer's software settings.

Clean the Printhead:

  • If the error persists, consider cleaning the printhead using the automated tool available on the printer's control panel under "Tools."

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • Test with another cartridge to determine if the issue is with the cartridge or the printer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
