Hi @Nik1920,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your printer reads the ink as full but doesn't print black ink, it can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check the Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the black ink cartridge is correctly installed. Sometimes cartridges might not be seated properly, which can prevent them from dispensing ink.
  • Remove and Reinsert the Cartridge: Take out the black ink cartridge and then reinsert it firmly into the printer. This can help establish a proper connection and ensure that the cartridge is recognized correctly.
  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Ink cartridge contacts can sometimes get dirty or covered with ink residue. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently wipe the contacts on the cartridge. Allow it to dry completely before reinserting.
  • Run Printer Diagnostic Tools: Many printers have built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify and resolve print quality issues. Check your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on how to run these diagnostics.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, printer firmware updates can resolve issues with cartridge recognition and printing. Check if there are any updates available for your printer model and install them if needed.
  • Perform a Print Head Cleaning: If ink has not been flowing properly, you may need to clean the print head. Most printers have a print head cleaning utility that can be accessed through the printer's settings menu. Run the cleaning process according to the printer's instructions.
  • Verify Ink Levels: Even though the printer indicates the ink level is full, there may be an issue with the cartridge itself. Try replacing the black ink cartridge with another new one to see if that resolves the problem.
  • Check for Error Messages or Codes: Sometimes, printers display error messages or error codes that can provide more specific information about the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
