I just opened my HP Deskjet 2700. New cartridges and it won't print anything from the magenta color.

@TJDunn, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2700 isn't printing magenta even with new cartridges, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Cartridge Packaging

  • Make sure the protective tape on the magenta cartridge was removed. It’s a common oversight.

Run a Printhead Cleaning

  • On your printer or via the HP Smart app, run the “Clean Printhead” utility. This can often resolve clogged nozzles.

Print a Diagnostic Page

  • Use the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app to print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page. This will show if magenta is missing or faint.

Check Ink Levels

  • Even new cartridges can be faulty. Check ink levels in the HP Smart app to confirm magenta is detected.

Reinstall the Cartridge

  • Remove and reseat the magenta cartridge. Make sure it clicks into place securely.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Use the HP Smart app or visit HP’s website to check for firmware updates that might fix cartridge recognition issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
