Hi @Transition11, Welcome to HP Support Community. 👋
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your yellow ink cartridge is playing hide-and-seek with your printer 🖨️? Let's coax it out of its digital hiding place with these troubleshooting steps:
Check Cartridge Installation
- Open the printer's ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the yellow cartridge and reinsert it firmly.
- Ensure it's correctly seated in place.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts
- Power off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the yellow cartridge.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol to clean the gold-colored chip and metal contacts.
- Allow it to dry for a few minutes before reinserting.
Check for Protective Tape
- If the cartridge is new, ensure the protective tape or covering on the contact chip/nozzle has been removed.
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait 2-3 minutes, then power it back on.
Run Printer Diagnostics
- Open the HP Smart App (or Devices and Printers in Windows).
- Select your printer and look for an option to Run Diagnostics or Clean Printhead.
Update Printer Firmware & Drivers
- Visit HP Support and enter your printer model.
- Download and install the latest firmware and drivers.
- Restart your PC and printer.
Try a Different Cartridge
- If possible, test with another yellow cartridge to check if the issue is with the cartridge or the printer.
Reset the Printer
- On most HP printers:
- Turn the printer off.
- Disconnect from power and wait 60 seconds.
- Reconnect and turn it on.
- Try printing again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day. 😊
