HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer prints only magenta, yellow and black.  Have cleaned the print heads several times, made sure the vents are not clogged.  All cartridges show full.  Paper is compatible.

Hi @TheMuse, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 is printing a psychedelic mix of magenta, yellow, and black, but cyan has gone AWOL? Let's bring that missing color back into the picture!

Check the Cyan Cartridge

  • Remove the cyan cartridge and inspect it for leaks, damage, or improper seating.
  • Reinstall the cartridge firmly to ensure good contact.
  • If you have a spare cyan cartridge, try replacing it to see if the issue resolves.

Clean the Printhead Manually

Since automatic printhead cleaning didn’t help, try a manual cleaning:

  1. Remove all ink cartridges.
  2. Dampen a lint-free cloth or paper towel with distilled water.
  3. Wipe the printhead contacts (where the ink comes out) gently.
  4. Let the printhead dry for a few minutes before reinserting cartridges.

Run a Printhead Alignment

  • Go to HP Printer Assistant or HP Smart App → Printer Maintenance → Align Printhead.
  • A misaligned printhead can cause color issues.

Print a Print Quality Report

  • Press the printer's control panelSetupReportsPrint Quality Report.
  • Look for missing cyan sections. If cyan is absent, the printhead may need replacing.

Reset the Printer

Sometimes a firmware or software issue can cause missing colors:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it for 5 minutes.
  2. Plug it back in and restart.
  3. Try printing again.

Update Firmware & Drivers

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check this via HP Support.
  • Reinstall the latest drivers from HP website.

Try a Different Print Mode

  • Print in high quality mode instead of draft or normal.
  • Try printing in grayscale (black & white) and then back to color.

Perform a Semi-Full Reset (Last Resort)

If all else fails, a semi-full reset restores factory settings.

  • Turn the printer off.
  • Hold "Back" and "Cancel" buttons together.
  • Turn the printer on while still holding the buttons.
  • Release the buttons when the reset menu appears.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
