OfficeJet 4500G Printing text with shadows

I changed the black Ink cartridge a while ago and afterwards printing anything from my phone (android) or laptop (ubuntu) results in the text having a shadow. Changing the print quality to Fast Draft reduced the shadowing effect but did not eliminate it.

I have used the cleaning options, removed both cartridges, re-aligned the cartridges many times, unplugged the printer, reset factory options. Throughout all of that the one thing that was a constant was the printer's menu options produced pages of flawless (shadowless) useless output, whereas whenever I tried to print something I needed the printer printer added a shadow to it making the output illegible.

I have read many other posts about this repeated the supposedly curative steps but not had the result desired.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. Hi. Were you able to find a resolution?  I am having the exact same issue, except that Mine started after I replaced both cartridges because they were low. The odd thing is that the Printer Quality Diagnostic Report and the Alignment page print perfect. I have run all the tests but with no success.   Ditto to everything you tried.
