HP OfficeJet 8600 Plus
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I need to urgently print an important document, but my yellow ink has depleted. So I tried everything I could to convince my Office Jet 8600 Plus to print with the full black ink only. But without success.

I tried this approach:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Ink-Cartridges-Print-Quality/Print-using-Black-ink-only-on-MAC...

But this didn't work (also, because the link is broken). I also tried to print with HP Smart. It offers the "Black only" option, but once I try to print, it shows an error that a cartridge is depleted.

I am using the latest drivers on MacOS Sonoma.

How on earth can I make this work?!

I now also found this:

I can't believe that this is not possible at all. In my case, I need to print urgently, and I cannot understand why the printer won't let me if the black cartridge is completely full. If this is really true, I'll get another printer from another brand now.
