I have this Officejet 7720, which i havent used for sometime because its indicated to use cartridge 953 which is difficult to come by here. Recently my checks reveal it can use 952 so i bought the set of the 952. Unfortunately it says its not intended for use on this printer. Anyway around it?

The HP OfficeJet 7720 is designed to work primarily with the 953 series cartridges, and while the 952 cartridges are compatible with some models in the same family, they may not work in all cases due to firmware restrictions or printer settings. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you purchased are indeed the correct 952 cartridges for the OfficeJet 7720. HP has different versions of the 952 cartridge (standard and high-yield), so double-check that the model numbers match.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Try installing the cartridges again.
Update Printer Firmware: Sometimes, printer firmware can restrict the use of certain cartridges. Ensure your printer is running the latest firmware:
- Connect the printer to Wi-Fi.
- Go to the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
- Follow the prompts to update.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes dirt or ink buildup can cause recognition issues. Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper contacts on both the cartridge and the printer with a lint-free cloth.
Try Reinstalling the Cartridges:
- Remove the 952 cartridges and reinstall them.
- Ensure they click into place securely.
Check for Region Restrictions: Some cartridges are region-specific, so ensure that your cartridges are intended for use in your printer's region.
If you're still unable to use the 952 cartridges, you might need to consider sourcing the 953 cartridges instead, as they are fully compatible with your OfficeJet 7720.
