Printer will not print A3 PDF files in anything other than a jagged mess.
I wasted a couple of hours and a lot of paper and ink troubleshooting this issue.
The solution I found is simple.
I post it here for others to find.
1 - Open Device Manager.
2 - Open Print queues.
3 - Right click "HP Smart Printing".
4 - Select "Disable device".
5 - Enjoy a functioning printer again.
HP......... Stop updating my system with your software.

Actually, you need to blame Microsoft for your issues, not HP.
Go to hp.com and install the original HP driver for that printer model, you are now using Microsoft drivers on your computer and those are causing your issues.
