I have had this printer going on 4 years now and have never came across this error. "The indicated (black ink) cartridge is not communicating correctly with the printer. If this problem persists, replace the cartridges." I have replaced with a new ink cartridge, but are still getting the same error. I have followed all of the suggestions that are provided when contacting support, but still cannot get either of the black ink cartridges (old and new) to communicate with the printer. Anyone had this issue before? Am I going to have to get a new printer?

Hi @Candy_May6,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to encounter this issue with your HP ENVY Photo 7155 printer. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem.
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Turn off your printer and remove the black ink cartridge. Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
- Reset the Printer: Sometimes a reset can resolve communication issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 1-2 minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually check for updates through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.
- Check for Obstructions or Damage: Inspect the cartridge carriage and printer for any obstructions or physical damage that may be preventing proper cartridge installation or communication.
- Try a Different Cartridge (if available): If possible, try another black ink cartridge to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the cartridges themselves or with the printer.
If these steps don't resolve the problem and considering you've already tried both old and new cartridges without success, it might indicate a more complex issue with the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
